Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said the operation was conducted in the morning and had now come to an end.
"It has been a stop and search operation," he said, stating he would be able to give further comment and details later today.
South African National Defence Force spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini said they did not comment on operational matters.
"The police determines which areas need to be dealt with. As you know, we are just a support system for the police. We do not comment on operational matters."
The Citizen had reported that the army and police had locked down the area in the morning with more than 100 police officers, Home Affairs officials and the SANDF in the suburb.
