Emergency Medical Rescue Services spokesperson Robert McKenzie said that the crash occurred in the vicinity of the Galleria Mall.

“Paramedics came across the crash while travelling on the N2 earlier today [Sunday]. They called for further assistance and then started to triage and treat the fourteen patients who had all been seriously injured in the crash.”

McKenzie said that the accident was limited to the one taxi.

“More paramedics and the relevant emergency services were dispatched to help at the crash site. The paramedics from KZN EMRS and several private ambulance services worked together to treat the injured patients.”

“The patients, once stabilised, were transported to hospitals in the area for continued medical care.

The police are investigating the cause of the crash,” he said.
